Darya Lupenko:

"I am grateful for the warm welcome in the Residency! Polina and Maria are wonderful organizers and interesting people to talk to. Maria and Ervand are incredibly hospitable hosts. Participation in the Residency allowed me and my PSLab colleagues
to hold a few theoretical seminars important for our collective research projects. In between seminars,
I could attend the open lectures-discussions organized by Maria, Polina, and my senior colleague Oleg Zhuravlev. The most interesting for me was the discussion about the Experience Society. Also, I was very happy to meet young and more experienced artists who came for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Residency. I was pleasantly surprised that many were interested in my research topics. The residency will be remembered for fascinating discussions with people whose political views differ in many ways from my own. It's been great! Thank you so much!"

Oleg Zhuravlev:

"The Residency made it possible to invite my colleagues from “Laboratory”, including former students, to take part in a summer school in Moscow Region.

A grassroots, academic collective like “Laboratory” is always challenging. Something is always missing. And that something is often the possibility to meet and work together at our own pace. This is the paradox of a grassroots organisation. People aren’t working for money or their careers, but for their ideas and the pleasure of finding meaning in the world as a community. Gathering everyone together, especially when people live in different cities, is a real challenge.
During the Residency our goal is to immerse ourselves in intensive, collective work and to show others how we do this. To fully understand how ideology, belief and conviction function in contemporary, democratic politics, we have worked out a strategy made up of the following steps.
Firstly, we will read and discuss a number of important, theoretical works, starting with the German ideology of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels and concluding with contemporary, experimental works in the field of cognitive science."

Oleg Zhuravlev is a sociologist.
He is a researcher with Public Sociology Laboratory (Russia). He received his PhD in Social Sciences from the European University Institute (Florence, Italy). His research is focused on social movements, the sociology of knowledge, Marxism, pragmatic sociology, and the theory
of the "event" as a way of thinking about empirical data in the social sciences.

Violetta Alexandrova is a sociologist and a researcher with Public Sociology Laboratory.

Olga Pinchuk is a social researcher, researcher with Public Sociology Laboratory, PhD student at the History Department of the Higher School of Economics (St. Petersburg), researcher at the Center for Independent Sociological Research (CISR)
